Google to Penalize Sites That Prompt You to Download Their App

SEO Strategies, SEO tips
Google has come out fighting against app download interstitials — those prompts you get from some websites that want you to download their mobile app. Today the search giant announced that, as of November 1st, sites with intrusive app download interstitials will be penalized: “After November 1, mobile web pages that show an app install interstitial that hides a significant amount of content on the transition from the search result page will no longer be considered mobile-friendly.” Not being considered mobile-friendly will significantly impact organic traffic, as it’s known that Google aims to return only mobile-friendly sites in mobile search. Google’s mobile-friendly testing tool has been updated to reflect today’s announcement. As well, the Mobile Usability report in Search Console will warn you if it detects large app download interstitials.…

SEO Costa Rica, SEO tips
Humans connect to, relate to, and trust other humans. If someone doesn’t trust you, would they be likely to do business with you? Of course not. This is why providing faces and names to demonstrate your brand goes far beyond a money-making machine is immensely critical.  Some businesses excel at tying their brand back to the people behind it, making it relatable and memorable to the audience. But others restrict themselves to a faceless, cold, and corporate environment where one monotone branded voice is utilized across all channels. Google and Twitter Reportedly Working Together on a Content Delivery Platform

SEO Strategies, SEO tips
Recode reports that Google and Twitter are working together on their own ‘instant articles’ solution, which is said to aid in the distribution of content to mobile devices. Multiple sources have told Recode when people click on links in either a Twitter feed or a Google search, full articles will pop up immediately versus waiting several seconds. Google and Twitter will not actually host the content. Instead, the instantaneous delivery will be accomplished by showing people cached web pages on publishers’ sites. This makes a world of difference to content publishers’ because people will still be landing on their web pages, and not on pages hosted by Google/Twitter. There will be no loss of website traffic. Publishers will also appreciate the fact that there will be no loss of ad revenue…

Google Guilty in Russia of Abusing Position as Market Leader.

SEO Costa Rica, SEO tips
The Wall Street Journal reports Google has been found guilty by Russian competition regulators of “abusing” its dominant position a market leader. This verdict follows investigations into antitrust complaints against Google by other companies based in Russia, including search engine Yandex. Complaints stem from the fact that Google is allegedly stifling competition by packaging its Android operating system with a number of its own apps. Companies argue the practice of pre-loading Android devices with Google apps deters people from using third-party alternatives. Yandex, for example, complains that the pre-installation of the Google Search app hurts its ability to compete as a search engine. Yandex is currently the top search engine in Russia, but its market share is being eroded as more consumers adopt Android devices. Android, of course, encourages the…
