Why QR Codes Are More Outdated Than Your Pog Collection

SEO Costa Rica, SEO Strategies, SEO tips
You guys remember pogs right? Even if you weren’t a kid or teen in the 90s, you probably accidentally stepped on them while trying to climb into bed or had your kids beg you for another Jurassic Park pog to complete their collection. I had quite the pog collection, and was especially proud of my holographic ones. However, just like the ebb and flow of many creative ideas, the pogs trend came to an end. Just like pogs, QR code fever peaked around 2013/2014 and has been sliding into obscurity faster than your defeated pogs against my metal Animaniacs slammer. Here’s why. Shortened URLs Still Work Fine We never really needed an alternative to shortened URLs, much less the addition of an extra step, the downloading of a QR reader. If we had gotten…

SEO Costa Rica, SEO tips
Everybody is raving about content marketing but research, released annually, by Content Marketing Institute (CMI) and MarketingProfs is showing a consistent drop in the effectiveness of content marketing for B2B companies every year. Content marketing is no doubt effective, but some companies just can’t seem to make it work for them. Here are four ways to instantly boost the ROI of your content efforts: Create a Documented Strategy The CMI and MarketingProfs study referenced earlier reveals the lack of a documented strategy to be the prime culprit responsible for the ineffectiveness of content marketing; 60% of companies that have a documented content marketing strategy reported success with their content marketing efforts, while only 32% of companies that have a verbal strategy, and 7% of companies without a strategy reported success. SEO Costa Rica, SEO Strategies, SEO tips
For the past several years, the entire Google team has been pretty tight-lipped about the value and importance of social signals for SEO. We just can’t seem to get a straight answer from them! In early 2014 they opened up enough to admit that social signals are NOT an active part of their ranking algorithms. Which was the complete opposite of what Google said in 2010. What gives? We all definitely know social is a large part of most digital marketing efforts. And, social has the power to drive traffic, both organically and via paid channels. So, what real impact do social signals have on our SEO efforts in 2015 and beyond? Increased Traffic Traffic is the best place to start this discussion, but let’s back up a bit. In…

Behold, the Amazing Power of Twitter Hashtags

SEO Costa Rica, SEO Strategies
Hashtags have long been an important tool on Twitter for helping users organize and sort their tweets. They’re a great way to indicate that your content is relevant to a certain topic and to get your tweets in front of an interested audience. Just last month though, Twitter released a new study claiming that using hashtags in your tweets can actually kill your click-through rate. Say it ain’t so! Actually, I am saying it ain’t so. Not in my experience, anyway. I’ve found that if you use the right hashtags in your tweets, they are insanely powerful and can drive crazy engagement and traffic. For example, my top tweet for the month so far is this one, which uses the #ConvRoadTrip hashtag. Despite earning just five retweets, this one tweet had…
